The vision for the organization was conceived after many years of volunteer work in the field of education and years of involvement with educational strategic planning for new school construction and IT Master Planning. ConTech was created out of a vision to demonstrate the cost-savings and efficiency in up-front engineering of “intelligent” infrastructure design for security and technology in new construction.
From concept to implementation, our team of engineers and project managers are creative/critical thinkers with experience in education, government, business, law enforcement, and management information systems. Unlike any other team of experts, this team has the ability to design and implement processes among multiple jurisdictions, departments, and agencies.
Edna Hartwell is President and CEO of ConTech Design Group, Inc. She has more than 25 years experience in Technology & System Integration; 18 years experience in Physical & Logical Design & Consulting; and 15 years in Construction and Field Engineering Management. She has amassed a wealth of prior experience and training with corporations such as IBM, Xerox, Unysis and Network Solutions. She has worked in numerous management, technical and sales capacities with these firms to include, General Manager with Xerox Corporation where Ethernet Technology was utilized and demonstrated; Account Representative for IBM Corporation in Dallas, Houston and New Orleans; and Regional Operations Manager for Network Solutions.
She holds a BS Degree in Business Administration and Education from Paul Quinn College (HBCU) Dallas, Texas; with additional studies at SMU in Organizational Behavior and Administration. Giving support to the community, she has served on numerous Boards & Committees to include American Red Cross, United Way DeKalb, Leadership DeKalb, Political Congress of Black Women, National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) - Atlanta, Women Impacting Public Policy – Georgia, Greenforest Christian Academy, Georgia Department of Education –Report Card Committee, and DeKalb County Public Schools – Long Range Planning Committee.
As a Security pioneer in the K-12 industry she has developed white papers on futuristic trends in the convergence of logical and physical security for K-12 school & Universities as well as government facilities; and has received key manufacturer training with Cisco, OnSSI, Pelco, S-2 Access Control, Lenel Access Control, Bosch and GE. Additionally, she has received design training with CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design).
Feleshia Sams, Vice President/CFO: The firm’s CFO has worked side by side with the Owner for more than eleven years. In addition to being a visionary for K-12 Safety and Security and holding training certifications with numerous security manufacturers, the CFO has a Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Marketing and special training in small business finance. Her responsibility includes oversite of payroll, accounting, financial reporting data, HR and Davis Bacon compliance; contract pricing; subcontract and teaming agreements, NDAs and forms compliance. She works to insure that the firm is in compliance relative to all regulations which include updating CCR, ORCA, SBA 8(a); all small business certifications and corporate policies.
Executive VP - CFO
Joe Mitchell has twenty plus years’ security and technology engineering, management and design experience with commercial, telecommunication, K-12 Schools and Universities. His technical experience includes Installation of T1 and T3 phone systems; installation and maintenance of access control (such as bio-readers), CCTV, burglar and fire alarms, nurse call stations, audio systems, and electronic gates. His education and training includes attendance at Middle Tennessee State University majoring in Mass Communication; holds certifications with Lenel Access Control, Casi/GE Access Controls, Pelco/IP Camera, Silent Knight Intelliknight SKSS 5820XL,5808, and 5700; IP DACT & DACT Communications Programming (Fire-Lite); and training with Bosch, Avigilon, AiPhone, Vicon, and Andover Controls.
Director of Operations
Planning & Move Management: Particularly talented at product sourcing, negotiating and sourcing of hard-to-find specialty products that are not offered by major broadliners. Directing the firms planning and move management, he is well adept in strategic planning and managing furniture moves and set-up, space layout and design, modular systems installation, IT electronic equipment and coordination of vendor management. He brings a seasoned background of international procurement and distribution. He has prior experience with K-12 School relocation, furniture warehousing, system and electrical connectivity for cubicles and modular furniture and facilities readiness. He speaks Spanish and Portuguese and has a BS Degree from Kennesaw State University.
