ConTech Design Group, was awarded 8(a) Certification by the Small Business Administration
Atlanta, GA (February 18, 2008) - ConTech Design Group, was awarded 8(a) certification by the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program. The certification gives ConTech extra points when federal agencies are selecting vendors for procurement opportunities. The highly competitive 8(a) program awards preferred status to promising minority/woman-owned firms with proven business models that wish to sell products/services to the federal government.
This accomplishment will open new doors of opportunity to ConTech. The government has established a number of set-asides – portions of the budget for contracted services that must be spent with firms that qualify for special treatment due to their size, ownership, or other considerations. As much as 23% of the budget is set aside specifically for companies certified as 8(a) (minorities), SDBs (Small Disadvantaged Business), HUB (Historically underutilized Business) zones, and WOB (Woman Owned Business). There are $8-10 billion dollars set aside each year just for companies with 8(a) status.
ConTech is certified as a Participant in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development program for a nine-year term. ConTech’s is also certified with The Women Business Enterprise Council, National Minority Supplier Diversity Council, and the Department of Transportation. All of these federal and state certifications will help ConTech win more federal and state government contracts, and the opportunity to strengthen its relationships with majority owned firms that provide Mentor Protégé Programs, Partnerships, and Subcontracting opportunities.
